| David McCann was introduced as Poet of the Month in the October issue of the Korean literary journal Munhak Sasang, Literature and Thought. In a brief article, McCann describes his work for the past two years exploring the sijo, a centuries-old, three-line vernacular Korean verse form, in his own poetry as well as introducing it to other writers. The feature presents a number of McCann's sijo poems from his collection Urban Temple, to be published by Bo-Leaf Books in February of 2009. The poems were translated by Kyong-Mi Kwon, a graduate student in Korean literature at Harvard, and Hong Sông-ran, one of Korea's leading contemporary sijo poets. |
